'Ten Changed Programs' article

Anderson to St. Johns is a weird fit. I also think Arkansas is one of the hardest jobs in basketball. Nolan Richardson's success is unrealistic today because Richardson leaned so heavily on JUCO talent which is harder to do now. Arkansas does not produce a lot of homegrown talent, and there is fierce competition for talent in the nearby cities that do produce a lot of talent (Memphis, Houston, St. Louis). Arkansas has no natural recruiting advantage anywhere.

St. Johns is in New York. Even if it is losing the Top 10 players from the city to other programs, it should never suck.

Would have rather he talked about our incoming frosh.

Simply not true about the Arkansas NC of 1994

Williamson - the star & a play-a-like to Zion kinda - was from Arkansas. Stewart & Beck were from Memphis - not far away. Scotty Thurman was Louisiana. McDaniel from Tulsa, from Richardson's earlier relationships. Not a Juco amongst them.

Probably thinking of Richardson's Tulsa teams. He brought guys like Phil Spradling and Paul Pressey with him from a W. Texas CC to the U. Tulsa.

Actually Arkansas has amazing facilities and Fayetteville is a really cool college town. They obviously have competition in those recruiting areas that you mention, but the right coach can do it
