Embiid would have been #1 w/o the foot injury right?

Sidenote, was the foot issue a smoke screen so he would drop to the Celtics or Lakers? He did not look happy when drafted by the Sixers.

I'm pretty sure ESPN was fooled by their own satellite delay and were showing him 30 seconds earlier while he was waiting for the pick. He looked happy the next time they showed him.

If you are an NBA scout and run into a big man with with foot problems in college, you run in the other direction.

By the way, the premise of the original post is correct. If a college team has two Top 5 picks and wasn't that good as a college team, either the rest of the team really, really sucked (it didn't), the team badly underachieved (maybe), or at least one of the 2 "Top 5" players is badly overrated (ding, ding, ding).

The 76ers may have pissed away two Top 5 draft picks in consecutive years. Nice work.

As talented as they are, a lot of these one and done freshmen are inconsistent at the wrong times.

The 76ers are gonna suck anyways drafting Embiid is the risk they gotta take, their not gonna attract a star player.

because it's a single elimination tournament and any team can have a bad game (and also, Embiid didn't play in the tournament)

The 2012 team has had 5 players drafted so far and could not even win a NCAA game.

Because it's hard to win the title? And even harder when your 2 best players are freshman?

Because NBA potential and collegiate success are wildly different things.
Agreed . Out of the Final Four teams this year only 3 players were drafted in the first round. UCLA had 3 alone.

They were a very good team when both players were there. When Embiid was injured and missed the tournament, they were worse. The idea that Embiid and Wiggins underachieved in the tournament doesn't make sense, since Embiid wasn't playing.

As Palatine posted a pic of Bazz - winning NCAA championships is all about guard play. You can have the #1 pick forward, but we all know that college championships are delivered with great point guards as they control the play.
