Pending final confirmation hearing headed by mauconnfan...

Heights

Javonte Brown Ferguson 7’0”
Carlton 6’10”
Polley, Sanago, Springs 6’9”
Whaley, Akok 6’8”
I just continued what cap10mayhem did. Assuming whaley is 6'8" and akok is 6'9" each line is up roughly an inch.

Is that the same person, Akok? How many pounds of muscle did he gain and when is he due back?

Carlton really did grow an inch or 2 during his time at UConn. He really does look about 6'10 or give him a half inch more. Thought he was barely 6'9 when he came in.
He was recruited as a small forward I think.

Keep in mind Brown got to campus after the others. So expect to see further physical development from him soon.
It’s amazing what hard work, the resulting dam break and a new strength coach will yield. No time to celebrate but do feel some great satisfaction. Good job by the coaching staff. It’s been a privilege cheering them on.

Worry if all that bulk could be detrimental to him as a basketball player though.
Maybe for a 30 to 40 minute a game player. With the depth of this year's team, the bulk will help him finish through contact and may encourage more drives to the basket.

Though, if he is guarded by a tall or almost as tall player who is quicker, it might hinder his release.

The extra weight hindered Carlton, but he was wider to start with.

It should be interesting either way.

Game on!

The weight they put on this year is different, its lean and powerful muscle. Not the fat weight Carlton put on for last year.

Don't remember ever being this hyped about our frontcourt going into a season. Add that with Cincy's former strength & conditioning coach... yes please.

uhhhh 2003-2004 was pretty good

OK4, Boone, Villanueva, Armstrong?

But your point is taken, this is a different class than the past ... checks notes... every year since 2003-2004.

Yeah, I think you have to go back to the FF team in 2009 with Thabeet, Adrien and Sticks to find a front court where they were all physically developed. And yes, I understand Thabeet wasn't ripped but he was about 250 lbs and was plenty strong enough.
