Yes, we know that FAU has an Owl mascot, BUT we are saving chicken wings for the Temple Game.

As we have plenty of eggplant from my garden, we are making 2 trays of eggplant Parmesan: one with spinach, the other with ground Beef (a.k.a. eggplant lasagna)
-garden salad & Italian Bread
-Pasta Salad
-Shrimp cocktail
-Sausage & peppers
-surprise dessert
-Buffalo chicken dip & chips
-fresh veggie platter
-Beer, seltzers, soda, other beverages

I did use eggs. We do cook on gameday. But some things have to be prepared on Football Eve.
I dont know how its going to taste, but it looks delicious.

The bake or no bake and whether or not the recipe has eggs is a big divide amongst the Key Lime pie afficionados.

You're actually double dipping in to two huge contentious food battles.

Besides Key Lime pie, you went in to an even deeper food battle.

Cubans sandwiches are broken in to Miami vs Tampa for the style.

How are you making yours?

Interesting. Since I moved to Florida 5 years ago, key lime pie has become a favorite dessert. Normally I just buy a mini pie at Publix. Any idea how those are made?

Can't go wrong bringing a Publix pie to a picnic, a cookout, or to your own fridge.

I have no idea if it is baked or not. I would suspect it's baked since thst would give you a longer shelf life compared to a non-baked version.

We have some friends who are married and she grew up with a no bake recipe and her husband grew up with the baked version. Every cookout they have they each make their own version and by the end of the party both are gone.

I am completely envious of @huskyblooz menu because I could eat Cuban sandwiches and Key Lime pie every day.

I miss living in FL and having a Publix down the corner.

Have you tried the Sam’s Club Key Lime Pie? Bought one last weekend. It was a big pie and it was very good—$9.99. I will be getting it again. Seems like a can’t miss contribution for a cookout.

It's our Steakhouse Saturday tailgate:
  • Crab Cakes
  • Wedge Salad
  • BYOM (bring your own meat)
  • Hashed Brown Potatoes
  • Creamed Spinach
  • Grilled Pineapple Spears
  • Quality wine

Been a while since I visited Florida but last time I was there I stopped at a Publix to pick up the key lime pie.

Publix key lime pies seem to be eggless but baked: Publix Key Lime Pie Recipe

Joe & Nellies Key Lime Juice, available at every Shop Rite and Stop & Shop I've been to in CT, is the "key" to an awesome key lime pie. Its also an excellent base for real margaritas.
