OT: Tackle football....no. Tackle baseball...yikes!

I don't see why Woodward would go off like that, Phillips is just trotting around the bases. Do they have a history? Not that that excuses Woodward in the least, just trying to understand why he did this.

It was a nice hit. Not sure what the batter did though. But whatever it was, pitcher shouldn't have tackled him. Just throw at his chin the next time he's up.

Absolutely.

Reminds me of Pedro Martinez shoving Don Zimmer to the ground.
To be fair, Zim was probably already headed towards the ground. Pedro just more or less got out of the way.

The university announced that he has left the team. They say they can't tell the reason due to
privacy concerns.

FWIW: the title of the article isn't fully supported by the content. He may well have been kicked off the team but the
content suggests he simply could have quit of his own volition.

Am I correct? The writers of media articles are not the ones who compose the titles?

It was the equivalent of a sucker punch and could have done real damage to a guy who didn't see it coming. Nothing to have fun with.

Link to an update on the league punishments.
Ironically, the fallout will be a net gain to Weatherford College, the team of the offending pitcher, in that the volume of suspensions handed out to North Central's team for leaving the dugout means that NC will have to forfeit its upcoming two games against Weatherford.
