I saw nothing in Cuse or their coach that was classless or questionable. He was consistently gracious and positive in his comments about UConn and Geno.

They were simply overmatched.
some people just continue to be petty... but we expect teenage girls to be mature but 60yr old men aren't smh #weird

I will give props to Hillsman. Apparently he has given up on the thug ball game plan of a few years ago. His team played hard and clean, they just were over matched.
Yeah, but he is living in a bit of a fantasy world. He said in his post game that they got it down to 17 points and then had a few mis-plays, and if those mis-plays don't happen it's a different ballgame. I got news for him, you don't lose by 31 points on a few bad plays. This game was over in the first quarter.

I called it again. I said that Geno would shorten his bench to the 6th man, and he did. Collier was the only bench player to play any significant minutes (15). The rest of the starters played 38 or more minutes with the exception of Tuck, she played 37. Syracuse got 30 combined points from his starters, and 21 from his bench. Geno only got 8 points from his bench. 6 from Collier and 2 from Pulido. I know Katie Lou wanted to be out there for her team, but her presence was not needed. UConn just plugged gabby in, and kept rolling.

After watching Syracuse last night against washington I don't see how this is not a 30 point plus win and another title. Washington was embarrassing slow, played no defense giving up one open shot after another and watching them attempt to dribble against the syracuse press it reminded me of a cyo team totally inept. Their passes were cringeworthy and if not for 1 player who hit 8 or 9 3's syracuse would have won by another 20. Against Uconn their press result will be a Uconn layup line. Uconn unlike washington will play suffocating defense and will not allow more than 1 syracuse shot at the basket. Uconn will slice up the syracuse defense like a knife thru butter and their bigs will have a field day with the inside of syracuse D. Geno has no love lost for this team and will try to beat them by 100 if he can. Syracuse has done a good job beating all the teams they did to get here. But unfortunately for them they now get the VARSITY tuesday night. This will be like the louisville final a few years back.

Agreed.
The interesting thing was that Q and his girls honestly thought they could do the same thing to UConn, that they did to Washington. They found out in the first 10 minutes that was not going to be the case. Like the 2 teams that played UConn before them, Syracuse NEVER led. They made it interesting with that 16-0 run, aided by several UConn turnovers, but UConn stormed back to win going away.

16-0 run? has that been the biggest comeback margin by at team against UConn this season?

Both ND and Maryland cut leads that I think had grown to above 20 down to single digits in the second half against Uconn, but for a single run I am pretty sure 16-0 is the worst that uconn gave up. And yes - if it had gotten to a twenty point run, or even had they just not given up the last two baskets in the third to take the lead back to 21, it might have made the fourth quarter just a bit tighter.

But that is what happens when you dodge a team for so long and there is no familiarity and you have to face them for the first time. During the championship at that.

How that work out for ya?

Nothing like you saw before huh Orange.

I bet he's willing to schedule UConn for the next couple of years...........

I credit that run to the tiredness of the starters. They played almost the whole game.

Little fatigue during that period but regroup and found that 3rd wind. Ha ha.

That was no big call, it is Geno's history.

You have to love these kids. Congratulations! Syracuse goes on a 16-0 run and they simply put a stop to it. They either were tired or panicked a little and went back to what got them the lead in the first place, passing over the press and good ball movement. Most other teams would have melted. These ladies just reapplied the game plan.

The power and class of this team was shown when GA leading by 30 did not want to embarrass with a 50 point win...so he backed off...now this was an unusual call for the team and they did get confused trying to slow down their sets, etc... Then after the 16 run, GA went back to plan "A: and the 30 point lead came right back!! Amazing to be able to turn it on and off....

However you wanna call it, UConn didn't convert on maybe 6-10 straight possessions... unusual

Have to give the Orange props. Yes, they were over matched, but they never stopped playing. It was that grit and "never give up" attitude that allowed that 16-0 run in the third quarter. Many teams have been overwhelmed at that point and could not have put such a run together. Good for them!

Oh , they saw it coming............They just put on a pair of those fancy sun shades and tried to stroll on by and ignore it. Until the meteor hit them square on the noggin.

But is it really a comeback if it only comes half way back? And then reverts to the same old, same old you were trying to come back from in the first place?

I've never been a fan or even a "liker" of Q's WBB teams. However, give credit where it is due. In the 3rd quarter they nipped 17 points off of Uconn's lead with helter skelter, dynamic, tough, determined defense. that was no easy feat. Uconn usually is much more poised but for a brief moment the poise escaped them and in came Q.
Credit where credit is due. What is important is UConn , stew, tuck, Moriah won number 4/11.

A "come back" must come all the way back . You must call it a "half back" otherwise. Or maybe a quarter back.
But Give the ORANGE credit, they did what no one had done all year, they came partially back on Uconn--

I'm a Syracuse hater (for lack of a better word) from way back. I had seasons tickets for the men in the 80's and 90's and my "hatred" goes deep in the men's side of the game. I watch both the UConn men and women religiously and I know the men's board was hoping we'd crush them (see what I did there) by a score of 115-25. I was right there with them. Add to that what we've witnessed from their women's team (in terms of rough play & unsportsmanlike behavior) over the years and well, you know where I stand on the issue.
