I am a long time UConn football season ticket holder commuting down from Burlington, VT for every game... I'm stuck working the control room for the ABC and FOX affiliates up here today and just noticed that Syracuse (a good 6 hour drive) has bought a half-hour football show that airs just before ABC's college football preview.
Over on FOX I'm watching the Red Sox DESTROY the Yankees and see an ad for SU athletics periodically behind home plate at Yankee stadium. $yracuse is marketing like HELL right now... And well outside their market! (I don't consider NYC to be 'Cuse country).

Is UConn doing ANYTHING right now to sell tickets and interest outside of East Hartford?? When I was in CT last week for the Towson fiasco, I saw nothing: no billboards, no TV ads, and no radio chatter (aside from WTIC)

If they want to sell tickets... And attract ANYTHING other than AAC or FCS, (beyond putting a decent product on the field) they need to generate excitement and create new business ASAP -- throughout the state and beyond.

I hope I'm wrong and simply had blinders on after the Towson loss, but Syracuse is one well placed ad-campaign away from becoming "CT's College Football Team" (as they claim to be in NYC)

There's NO way Syracuse will become CT's football team. Ever.

UConn had been running Football Ticket ads on ESPN past few weeks.

Syracuse's hook @ Yankee Stadium is Alum Brandon Steiner (Steiner Sports Memoribilia and Marketing). The sign behind home plate irritated the out me the last few nights (in addition to the scores).

It all depends on what you know about advertising. Many people will tell you that ads for tickets are a BIG waste of time. Maybe UConn has different consultants. In this day and age, with social media, you better be hustling your marketing efforts in much savvier ways than advertising in such a fashion.

That wasn't his point.

The fact is that we have not done a damned thing to market this program when we should be a decade into an attempt to make all of New England and NY State east of the Hudson ours.
