SYRACUSE COACH MARRONE THOUGHTS ON BIG EAST

The BE football conference didn't exist back when he played, Syracuse played a lot of the eastern indies, all of which, outside of PSU, became the BE football conference. Basically, he could be a prominent poster on the Syracuse board, pining for the days when Joe Pa would grind them into the ground on a yearly basis and basking in their glow.

"When I came to Syracuse back in 1982, we were an independent," he said. "For me, whenever I've always thought about eastern football, Penn State, West Virginia. For a long period of time, Penn State was one of our rivals, if not our biggest rival. For me, when it went into conferences, the Big East, people have asked me this question quite a bit.

"As soon as it started and Penn State started to move and make some decisions, for me, growing up as a young player in the Northeast, the dream of a truly Northeastern football conference, I knew would not occur. I think everyone's doing the best they can with their situation. I've really never been a part of the Big East like a lot of our other coaches here have been. I think it probably would affect them more."

I understood HFD's drunken posts last night more than I understand these.

Think about the people that hired him as head coach. It's amazing some the people these schools hire.

I love when these defectors talk about how "it isn't the same conference".

Yeah, when you leave, it isn't, NO .
