I'll refresh Swofford's memory:

The Big East schools said during a March 6 Big East Conference chief executive officers meeting, Miami President Donna Shalala reiterated the school's commitment to the conference. Reaching further back, the schools said on Nov. 2, 1999, former Miami President Edward Foote said the school had no plans to change conferences.
