I've found Greg Swaim to be one of the more accurate reporters re: conference realignment. He has some solid sources. (FWIW, he started reporting the real possibility of FSU to BigXII back in January.) Here's some recent observations re: UConn, ND, and several others in the Big East. swaim is a theory guy, his sources are the posts of wvu fans that are not mhveer etc....i enjoy his random stuff. he has been saying for months now that uconn and ruty will move this summer to either the b10 or the acc. hes been asked many times and he always says acc more likely with a outside shot at the b10. its all just fluff from him but its fun. he thinks that cncy and usf will also be acc teams. i agree there. the acc will need cincy down the line and if fsu goes, the acc will need usf. miami wont be playing fball for a while so they can't block usf and the acc needs a fl fball playing school. miami will be a bball only soon basically.

i can see something like this being formed.
b12-fsu/clem/gt/lville or pitt
b10-unc/uva

ruty/uconn/md/vt/ncst are in the acc but all wait for possible news to move. vt is trying for sec before taking a b12 invite.

duke/wake/bc/cuse/temple/cincy/usf or lville or pitt(all sports)
navy/army (fball only, maybe lax or w/e, just not bball)
miami/gtown/nova/sju (bball only)
pitt is a major wildcard at this point. cuse/duke/wake/bc are for ever acc.
thats 14 fball, 18 bball.

when nd picks the b12 or b10 then the other pieces fall and those 5^ find there homes or a wildcard is picked. either way the acc is hurting as 5th best conf. they will add memphis/uh/smu/tulane/rice or some1 else...

bascially as a uconn fan, we need to 100% root for nd to join the b12 for other sports this summer and for fball also in 2015 when the nbc tv contract is up. if they do that(which is a hot rumor) they will take md with them as 16. that leaves 5 schools for the b10 to add to get to 16. uconn/ruty/unc/uva/kansas. kansas is 5th best in that and even if they got a invite they aren't moving now with what the b12 has become.

if nd goes to the b10, then md goes there and unc/uva/ruty/uconn are going for 2 spots, could get really ugly for us.....

Conspiracy theory #?: Maybe she picked up a bundle of those Big 12 lapel pins that were supposedly shipped to Northern Indiana just in case she might need them at a future date to be determined.

I think we have a better chance of getting into the B1G then the B12, but I don't think either is particularly like. It looks like we'll either be stuck in a craptastic Big East or in a gutted ACC. Hard to be real psyched about either.

a) Let Pitt/Cuse go early for $5MM each.
b) Several months later, merge the remaining ACC into BE, charging the new members (including Pitt & Cuse)$2.5MM each to join.
c) Kick out Depaul/Seton Hall
d) Sign new TV deal with NBC/Comcast
e) Steal underpants
f) ????????
g) Profit!!
