No interest from Ollie reported but kid looks solid and would make a great Giffey replacement....

Mitch McGary? You're probably thinking of Mitch McGary. He is very good. Unlike his teammate Stauskas

6' 6" Ukrainian born in 1997. Considered one of the top 5 prospects in Europe, and the best guard prospect since Rubio. Whether he goes to college or not, he'll be a lottery pick some day soon.

Here's Amore on UConn adding anyone for 2014 class:

Ollie said it's possible, but not likely, he will bring in another Class of 2014 player. He has scholarships available with Daniels leaving early and Leon Tolksdorf transferring, but wants to have room for 2015 recruits.

Boneyard doesn't seem to believe what Kevin Ollie has said recently, so maybe this means there will be 2 more additions to the 2014 class.

So is the rule basically that this kid can play for a pro team in the Ukraine and retain NCAA eligibility as long as he "doesn't get paid"?

Top 10 recruit for 2015, supposedly. He's only 16 years old, but since kids graduate from High School in 11th grade in Ukraine he's eligible to play next year.

I think this is a mistake. Not adding another big body, even just someone to absorb fouls, is going to be a serious problem next season.

I thought it was a given we'd be adding a graduate transfer again. No good frontcourt players left from the list in that other thread?

pickings are pretty slim this year with frontcourt players, most of the best guys available are wings. hopefully some new names emerge with players possibly graduating in the summer.

It's not a given until we add the guy. I really want Darius Leonard from Campbell. 6-9, 220, good low post game and he can hit the three. But the other players who were desirable, McKnight, Simmons, Rhett, are all gone. I'm not sure if there's another decent big left who will be able to play next year.

It was tough enough to get the pronunciation of Giff's name correct. Imagine how tough it will be to get this guy's name down pat.

Leonard is who I wanted too but there's a note from a poster on the rivals board who has an in with the program that said that Leonard had his visit cancelled because his gpa was too low to get into the grad program. McKnight had some behavioral issues in the past, getting suspended at FGCU, and as far as Simmons I've never been a fan of him from watching Washington, maybe he'll do better in a different program but eh.

Ship sailed on Leonard due to GPA, yes I've heard that too

That's disappointing.

I'm not in love with Simmons, but he's a credible starting 4 and can rebound. I'm nervous about going into next season with only four bigs, especially when one is a freshman who wasn't a top recruit and two others have shown serious foul issues throughout their careers.
