In a battle of the beatens, The Sun prevailed. A breakout game for Kelsey Bone with 13 pts and 8 reb. The Sun desperately need that from her. The rookies continue to impress. Chiney leads the way again with 18 pts and 7 reb. Alyssa Thomas is exceeding my expectations... I was not overly impressed with her in the NCAA post season so my expectations were low. She's gonna be a good pro. Hightower is coming into form and is playing well. Griffin had a good one off the boards and was doing her usual hustle-thing.

Kelly got into the game with 1:20 on the clock to a huge cheer and didn't do much in garbage time. Danielle McCray continues to struggle... more zeros than Japan's WWII air force. Montgomery and Pedersen got no minutes. And Cain is........ wait for it.... INJURED! SURPRISE!!

Atlanta next home game . Indy and Chi on the road back-to-back 29th and 30th.

I just watched the game.

Katie Douglas is really struggling. She shot "light's out" at the preseason game I went to though.

Thomas has to learn to let the other team make an easy shot rather than get an early foul that'll take her out of the game.

Cheney is being a solid performer.

Storm need to consider a complete rebuilding. There's doubt that Lauren Jackson will play from them again and may stay in Australia. How about a Block buster trade Sue Bird for Renee Montgomery, Alyssa Thomas and a #1 draft pick. They won't do it, as she is a fan favorite, but they do need to rebuild and I doubt Sue will still be playing three years from now.

Does anyone know why Renee Montgomery didn't play?

No reason given, but the rap on Renee in the W has always been mainly defense. Donovan wanted to make this team's identity all about the D, so maybe that's it.

I guess not. I really did not follow Maryland much during the season. Alyssa was good in the post season, I just reviewed some of her numbers. I was sure she was going to stick in the W, I just didn't see her as a rookie starter and high performer. My luke-warm response to her was probably heavily colored by my dislike for her coach and program. Its all about the laundry, I guess.

From a basketball standpoint, the Sun would be crazy to make that trade. Trade a substantial part of their future for a player just a few years from retirement? ?

She looked frustrated.
I can imagine. I'm headed to tonight's game right now. I think the Mystics have the edge. Two soccer-playing point guards from Long Island and UConn. It doesn't get any better than that.

That term has been bantered about significantly of late. Where did it originate? Kind of catchy. Took me a while, at first, to comprehend its meaning.

Yes, Ms Thomas' numbers in this past year's NCAA Tournament were quite impressive.

Alyssa was really good in the tourney for 4 games. She looked very mortal against ND.

The phrase originated as far as I can tell with Jerry Seinfeld, who referring to how quickly baseball teams exchange player, managers, etc. Since fans still root for the teams, he observed that it must be the clothing they cheer for. "You root for the clothing... its all about the laundry."

EDIT... FOUND IT:

I am a big fan and go nuts, quite often, trying to remember which shows go along with corresponding/opposing storylines within the same episode. since you mention baseball, it would have to be related to George's stint with the Yankees. It will be fun looking for it. Thanx

Very few players have put together 5 or 6 above mortal performances in a single NCAA Tournament. That's just basketball. Glen Rice in 1989 had the best 6 game tournament in memory. Hopefully, others will come to mind.

When he wanted them to go with 100% cotton and be mor comfortable! Convinces "George"~~~ and the they get trounced the next game because of "shrinkage"!

I thought Kaleena was excellent in 5 games in 2013. She didn't shoot well in the Maryland game. She was overshadowed by Stewie, especially in the Final Four, but I thought Kaleena played a lot like Maya.

Edit: I need to check the archives, but I believe that Kaleena has scored in double digits in all 17 career NCAA tourney games.
