While it might have been interesting to see Sue with Dee, too many athletes are (rightly) criticized for dropping their home team for the "big bucks". Given the fact that WNBA doesn't pay ANYBODY "big bucks" , it might have been an easier decision.
I'll be happy to see Sue play-out-her-career in Seattle. Many good reasons to stay IMHO.
It would have been just as likely for Sue to leave Seattle to go to the Sun or the Liberty (closer to friends and family) than to go to the Mercury. Remember, she spent the later part of 2011 rehabbing at UCONN.
She is the star of the team in Seattle, and has an established fan base along with endorsement opportunities in the area. To win a championship isn't a reason. She's done that in Seattle and has a good chance of doing it again. To play with Dee? She will do that with the US national team this summer.
