- I think Sue Bird is just the epitome of what a real point guard is all about and how they should carry themselves. Just looking back at her tremendous career at Uconn, WNBA, Russia; how many point guards can you name will have all that success and still maintain a high level of humbleness that sometimes you just wish you can tell her " Sue, it's ok to be cokcy, you freaking earned that right"?? .. But that's not the Uconn way at all..

A talented and attractive trio, to be sure.

In terms of basketball IQ, no one tops Sue. Starting with the games she missed as a frosh, she absorbed all the info and lessons available from Geno et al. plus her experience.

You mean humble like Skylar "I led the league in FT attempts and FTs made" Diggins?

Interesting to see Sue paired with a couple of young, albeit talented players. I wonder why you'd choose these three. I guess they are all talented and and all attractive. I feel as if Diggins and Delle Donne need a whole lot of longevity and a whole lot of championships before they can be considered peers of Sue.

Sue and Diana sit alone on top of women's basketball as the most supremely confident players and I cannot say if one or the other has a little bit of an edge over the other. Maybe a hair's breadth between them. Sue is very diplomatic, but do not confuse that with humble. Sue says: We are going to go out there and compete. DT says: We are going to go out there and demolish you. Sue means what DT just said. When Sue played PG for UConn she was the dagger in the heart. She left and handed the dagger to DT. They are different athletes - different gifts. Overall my nod is to DT. The body of work is incredible - particularly internationally. But Sue has something special too. Neither is humble. I don't want a humble PG or G or F or C ... just give me them as not brash jerks.

Sometimes (most times) the distributor, the architect, doesn't get quite the same credit as the producer, and I get that. These two are at the pinnacle of wbb, but they are very different players, although I agree, they are both daggers...and Huskies.

Nice to see SI's once-every-couple-of-months WBB coverage. Speaking of separation, only one of those young ladies led both their WNBA and college teams to championships. :)>
Only one of them has led either their WNBA or college team to even one championship.

Honestly what's wrong with this? leading the league in FT made and attempted are big deals.

There's an age difference, so certain comparisons are premature and unfair. But Sue also has 3 World Championship Golds (and 1 Bronze) plus 3 Olympic Golds. I think she has more Team USA Golds than anyone, ever.

You're right - the WNBA, Olympic and WC comparisons are premature. So we should limit the comparisons to college championships.

The talk about their Nikes. Sue acknowledges UCONN was a Nike school, ditto EDD w/ Delaware. SD has to say she "can't remember" who ND's shoe sponsor was. Sue & EDD talk about how their shoes fit, laces vs. straps, etc. SD says hers make her like Kobe.

Thanks. No shocker that she "can't remember" it was Adidas for ND when Skylar was there.

To be fair j66kicker, much as we dislike SD: she remembered the brand, but obviously was not going to mention it and promote a non-Nike product. Her remark about Kobe I took to mean she likes Kobe so she likes Nikes. Sue commanded the room. EDD was cute regarding her Great Dane being more popular on social media than her. SD played nice.

You need to compare it with Sue and EDD's being humble.....it is a big deal, but is it bigger than being in the WNBA finals, winning it? and winning NCAA championships? Winning world championships?

Ya I get that she remembered Adidas and didn't mention it now that she's a Nike Athlete.

As for being "fair", I do not consider that one of my obligations as a message board participant

I didn't think she "commanded the room", but I will never be anything close to an unbiased observer regarding SD.

Naw j66....SUE commanded the room, as in Sue Bird, to date the greatest PG in WCBB. Who is second... maybe Whalen. DT ain't a PG. She is undefineable. Sorry my post was not clearer.

I know we like to kick Skylar around here and we have reasons to dislike her on court behavior - several reasons. All valid. But in that little video there was a moment early on when the camera panned back and showed the 3 of them and her face was very revealing. It showed real apprehension for what was to follow. I think that moment said a lot about Skylar and her demeanor when challenged. She feels vulnerable and maybe like she doesn't belong. And she resents. Well, that is my Psych. 101 lesson for the day. She puts up a hard shell, but maybe we can see her behind that.

Maybe she feels like she doesn't belong because she senses others' reactions when she comes off as off-putting and arrogant.
