Can anyone recommend a sturdy tailgating tent that is strong and durable in the wind, and won't blow over with a heater inside? Ours tonight is simply not cutting it. Bonus points if your recommendation can arrive by the SMU game. Thanks in advance.

Lower one end of the tent so it is facing the wind. Since wind can't get underneath the tent to blow it over. Also makes it warmer without the wind blowing thru the tent. Learned this last year.

Also make sure you put the tent on the other side of your vehicle from the way the wind is blowing, if you can.

the EZ-UPs have holes at the base of the legs, so you can stake them into the ground. BAM!

Any tent will work if you brace it right. No tents unbraced can withstand strong winds. First tie a rope from the top of the down wind side to the bottom of the leg facing the wind. They call this angle bracing. The ropes also help keep the sides from blowing inwards. You can also go in both directions to make an X. Place tables inside against the wind wall to help keep the wall from blowing in. Tie twine or rope horizontal from leg to leg above the table. this helps keep the sides out. The wind can also bend and ruin the cross supports on the windy side of your tent. To prevent this, rope the cross piece to a stake in the ground outside or to your car if its in the right place to keep it from bending in. Once bent they are never strong again. These outside braces can also be used instead of the inside angle bracing. To sum up bring lots of rope and plenty of stakes and a hammer. Close line rope is a good size. 50 to 100 feet. Then sit back and enjoy.... and chuckle as you watch tents fly by. Tom

On asphalt try to park so your cars are up wind so you can tie off to them for your rope bracing. legs can be held down with heavy objects....Coolers full of food and ice, cement blocks, weight lift weights etc etc. Tie rope to top of leg and down to the weight next to the bottom of the leg. Lots of times there are cracks in the asphalt if it is an older parking lot. We often could line up two of our legs with these cracks and nail down at least two legs this way. maybe find another crack for outside bracing. Nail stakes work better for the crack bracing. You need to come prepared for the situation you will be in. Its too late once you get there. Tom
