I'm surprised by that. not that she was waived, but she was an uber-star for Kentucky in college. She was SEC POY as a senior i think and while at 6'1", maybe a bit short for a 4 in the WNBA, I'm surprised she was never able to elevate her game at the next level.

It is:
- a numbers thing - the WNBA represents what, 132 jobs?
- a skills thing - related to what you allude to above - the skills needed are different
- a needs thing - yes, we all prattle about "recruiting over" in the college ranks - but the equivalent roster adjustments are even more common at the supposed next level.
- not the end of the road. Even if her skills don't necessarily translate to the WNBA style, I'm sure they will get her a job overseas, if she wants it.
