I can handle it. Suspect most around here could and get some shadenfreude out of it. But, seriously, players should have to choose which. The IOC also suggested that 3 x 3 teams would be comprised of "specialists", though I don't know how they would make a rule to insure that.
I don't know how they'd make rule to ensure it but this quote from a "Business Insider" article caught my eye:
'Additionally, shooting is important. Of course, shooting is always important in competitive basketball, but with a game only lasting for 10 minutes and going to 21 points, the stakes of every shot are raised exponentially. As Matt Santangelo, a former Gonzaga guard and executive director of
Hoopfest, the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world,
recently told Bleacher Report, "Shooting is really at a premium in 3-on-3, more so than in the NBA, because in these games you can't hide on the floor. If you're open, you absolutely must hit the shot. If you don't, you lose."'
And the games are fast: 12-second shot clock. Good shooters that have stamina, move quickly back and forth. Some thoughts and/or guidelines, but certainly not rules. Apparently, The 2020 Olympic 3-on-3 tournaments will include eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams, so it appears countries will only get one team this time around. With the U.S. Talent pool, guessing that the players on these teams will be different from those on the larger court.
