Not sure this is a good rule but it is what it is.....Stewie is leading the league in scoring with 602 point but Griner with 461 has a slightly higher scoring average (21.0 vs 20.1) due to playing 8 less games. Assuming things stay the way they are ( and Griner meets the minimum qualifications which should be a layup) then Griner wins the scoring title. Hardly seems fair. Of course, Stewie could go on a tear or Griner could have a bad game or two making the issue moot.
Somewhat odd how all time scoring leaders are measured in total points but annual leaders are not.
Anyway, wishing Stewie well with both personal and team achievement.

Certainly. over a career, longevity is an important factor that separates the top players so total accumulated points /assists or whatever has significant value. Taking care of your body, continuing improvement as you age, etc are critical and should be honored.

However, on an annual basis, average statistics are a better indicator (assuming they meet some minimum threshold) since disparities are most likely due to injuries which should not determine the best players for that year.

Yeah. Too bad Stewie is having such an off season after off season surgery.

Your point is very good. One quibble I would have with your post is that it is more than a slight difference in scoring average. Almost a point a game out of around twenty is pretty significant. (It should be noted, though, that the gap has since diminished since your post--now 20.8 to 20.1).
