Was watching First Take today and they were talking about the Durant MVP speech and Stephen A. Smith started talking about Caron. I haven't been able to find the video for it. Hopefully it will be available later but he really had some good things to say about Caron. He told the story about when Caron was in Washington and Gilbert Arenas came in and was being an ass after signing a 100 million dollar contract. He was disrespectful to people including some women in the organization in a businesse meeting, and "it was Caron Butler who got in his face saying there is a certain way you treat people, there is a certain way you conduct yourself, there's a certain way you are supposed to know how to act. Caron Butler is one of those upstanding citizens in the NBA. So when Kevin Durant pointed him out and highlighted the emotional uplift that Caron Butler gave him, it was clearly understandable, because if you know anything about Caron Butler, that's the kind of guy he is, especially when he notices somebody that is special"

Is there a video of is kid speech? Also, butler sounds like a guy we'd want on our staff if we had room. Wonder if that's an option when he retires?

It would be great to maybe add him to the staff at some point. I am not sure if they are required to have a degree, but he could coach and get the rest of the credits needed for his degree at the same time. Seems like a great role model for kids the way he turned his life around.

Durant actually verbally committed to uconn on his visit. This was under the radar but he had a great visit at uconn and wanted to come here.
of course he wound up at texas because of what they could offer him and a deep connection he had with a recruiter on their staff who is from Baltimore. Aau type stuff.

Durant should have been a uconn guy. Uconn has done right by him in his post collegiate career.

very nice, but I was disappointed that it didnt cover his relationship with his pops, Jimmy C, this made my eyes well up but if it was about he and Calhoun, I'd be dripping tears right now

I was thinking the same thing but after looking at it this was about the detective and his story with him, which is really a great story!!!

It's amazing how one decision that, at the time may seem to matter much, can completely change people's worlds down the line. Caron would not be the man he is today. UConn might not be the program it is today. KD may not be the man he is today. The community Caron is working to change may not be the way it is today.

CB is building a nice little business for himself. He owns several fast food joints and some real estate I believe. I think his post-basketball career will be spent as a business tycoon.

I think his post-basketball career will be spent as a business tycoon and large donor and booster to UConn.

Fixed it for you! :)
