Here is the point scoring/game of the teams in the AAC:

USF 42.4
Tulsa 39.7
Houston 39.4
Memphis 38.4
Navy 33.8
Temple 33.8
UCF 32.1
Tulane 28.0
East Carolina 26.7
SMU 25.3
Cincinnati 24.1
UConn 20.3

The most points UConn has scored in a game this season is 27.

Looking back, UConn's point scoring has actually improved the past 2 seasons, but point scoring is still unacceptable:

2015: 17.2
2014: 15.5
2013: 20.6
2012: 17.8
2011: 24.3
2010: 26.4
2009: 31.2

UConn has not played great defense this season, but no defense can make up for this poor of an offense.

Bottom line, offense has been holding UConn back since Edsall left (hard to believe that I just wrote that!) and we need to get back to being an average offensive team. It's all on Diaco to make the necessary changes.

2-10 is more afraid of turnovers than he is of losing. It's the most bizarre thing I have ever witnessed in a coach.

The reality is if we had a better turnover margin this year with all other things being equal, we would probably be 5-3 at least. And the only game we did well in on TOs, we still lost. Turnovers do matter.

But yes, inside the red zone he is overly cautious. That is true.

This is t team that is odd in the way it cannot play offense. There are some weapons. The quarterback is not awful. The line again is not awful but something is missing . I sometimes get the impression that they don't want to score too much it's so weird.

Everybody knows UConn needs to score more points including the coaching staff and players. Little by little they are getting better. Just not better enough to win most of the close ones. I wouldn't give up on Diaco just yet. He is methodical in his program building to a fault for sure but he is bringing in good recruits. The next step is winning. With that comes the next higher caliber recruit and then everything will be fine in Husky nation. This is Connecticut and you can't just throw a rock in any direction and have it land on a highschool with 4 star football players like you can in Florida or Texas. So it might take Coach Diaco an extra year or two to get the ball rolling. I want to see what this next recruiting class looks like before throwing the guy under the bus. It better have some O-linemen that can actually move and play in it.

We lost the TO battle against Cinny and won. Probably our best game of the year.

The next step is 2-10 learning to manage a game. To come in with an offensive plan that takes advantage of the opponents weakness. To have his team prepared so the doens't have to burn Time outs to get us lined up correctly. To improve his situational awareness and clock management at the end of the half and the end of the game. We would have 6 wins if he could do those things.

The choice of passing plays in the red zone is poor. Too many corner routes - he doesn't have the talent to throw that ball. That throw back across to the tight end was brilliant (against cincy?) - we need to see more of that.

Agree with you Pal.....100% we should be at 6 & 2..... all the above mentioned should have been vetted but pretty much impossible, I suppose, if you're a " National Defensive Coach of the Year" out of "Notre Dame"......

Nice job, very informative AND revealing.

So if we keep up the current rate we will score almost as many points as we did the year we fired our coach. It has taken the Bobster 3 years to get almost back to where we were when he arrived. Nice.

Why cant we throw the ball in to the middle of the field in the end zone ???

I cant remember more than once ive seen that. As stated above, BS is just not good enough for the back corner throws in the end zone.

Honestly, lets just say that we throw a pick in the end zone...WHO CARES ? Its not like we wouldnt have found a different way to screw it up in there anyways. Why not take a chance ???
