I'm guessing on this. Just want to see discussion.

Also, do we have a glaring need to be filled before August through portal?

Latu Chadwick Hicks(?) Molette ???
King Parham Renwick
Jackson Smiley Hoffman(??)

What about Antolovich at OT? He has been the primary backup the past two seasons.

That O-line looks even better as a unit than the pieces. What QB wouldn't want to play with that O line, those RB's and Receivers? I agree with your lack of courage, and would assume we will be evaluating both Spring ball and portal options.

feel sometimes like this train is leaving Rosa behind.
I've v much wanted to see his resurgence and incorporation fully into the team again post-injury.
I don't have much data to back up the feeling, just "feels" like 2022 UConn roster, where VR blossomed, is becoming a shadow of the direction we're going. Obv a good thing, I just have a love for the CT kids who stay home, and don't want to see them fall below the 2-deep.

He had his chance to separate from the rest and did not really impress in the time he had in 2024. Don't think he was awfully surprising in 2023 outside of NC State, and benefitted a lot from a strong offensive line in 2022 (reminder that Devontae Houston ran 7 yards a carry that year). I know this board likes the kid a lot and I have nothing against him but I haven't seen him change that much talent-wise since 2022. On the flip-side... Edwards went from a DB to one of the best RBs outside the P4. Having an RB room of Edwards, Brown, and Robinson definitely did not make it easy for a fourth to break in. Believe he was also battling an injury in 2024.

Kervins Choute graduate? If Not I think he and Jackson will rotate at Nose. I think Smiley is a direct replacement for Yates. He is reportedly playing in the 260lb range these days.

I think the only thing we need now is an edge rusher.
When you refer to an edge rusher, is that a DE, or an LB that comes from that position. Thanks. Never played not familiar with all the vernacular.

Choute should be in the picture in 2025 for sure. But I feel one of the three new DLs will be getting some DT snaps given our roster...just not really sure which one yet. I would think the core rotation for either a 3 or 4 man front will be these five guys: Wright/Smiley/JonesII/Jackson/Choute. And then we will see if Hoffman (played 7 games), Ackerman (red shirted 2024), Branch (hybrid LB) get some edge time too.

But sure, could be that the center of the DL is simply a rotation of Choute and Jackson.

Rosa was banged up. He has a knack to find a hole like a termite does; I’d be surprised to not see him back in rotation in 25.

-> Who could have imagined a broken pinky finger could take him down, after so many defenders could not? “In football, carrying the ball, you always get some nagging injuries,” Rosa said. “But having to sit out, having to get surgery, really my first time having surgery and it’s on my finger. It’s a hard pill to swallow. It’s definitely hard when it’s a finger and your whole body feels great and you can go, but they don’t let you go because you’re not cleared to go. Hundred percent, this has been the hardest season of my football career.” <-

I think he hasn't physically grown. He did well his freshman year but if he hasn't gotten bigger faster stronger then there's nothing left for him. Not quite close enough in the genetic lottery.

We all want Rosa to do well but something has to be the issue. Maybe it is injuries but whatever it is, is not obvious.

I don't think they are done in the portal yet. Hopefully 5 more signings in spring. Does anybody know how many roster positions are left?
