Ch 404 in NYC Cablevision, Fox Sports I believe. Ekmark is #22 in white, just hit a 3, all net.

Must be a replay. I think their season is over. They won the state championship.

Yes, it's a replay. Opponent is Hamilton and it's a blowout. St. Mary's is up 20 - 4 after Q1.

Yeah, Courtney goes for 28 (I think).

It's the championship game I believe. Courtney is playing on the wing, long and very slender, already has 12, just hit a lefty runner. Good fundamentals, always in motion w/o the ball, not especially quick or athletic, but good ballhandler and shooter.

I agree. Smart, good shooter but will struggle against more athletic players on both sides of the ball.

Courtney Ekmark scouting report:

Strengths:
deadly outside shooter especially when she has time to set her feet
very smart player, knows when to go back door, knows how to use her length etc.
nice form on her shot and free throws... "pure shooter"
always in motion, knows how to get open

Weaknesses:
does not finish well inside, missed too many contested/difficult layups
she has to get some rebounds with that length, did not see her get any
needs to get into the weight room and do some drills to improve her strength, quickness and athleticism

Plenty of time to work on these weaknesses, since she is just a HS soph.

Sounds about right. I'd add that when the other team has the ball, it's generally a good idea to try to stop them from scoring. She has time to work on that weakness as well.

She is a junior, I think.

Thanks, all!

She is a soph and the coach's daughter.

Is she a lefty, or does she just use the off-hand well?

She's class of 2014 which makes her a soph.
It was the announcer's fault. They called her a junior during the broadcast.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Coming from Arizona on an unofficial visit on her own dime is impressive. She has lots of time to develop...hope we keep taking serious looks at each other....a complementary pure shooter from 2014 sounds good to me.

I agree on all points.

Yesterday was not a good day to watch Ekmark play. After watching Notre Dame's big, tough, physical and talented guards, I can't help but think that we need 1 or 2 Novasel-types. That's not Ekmark.

BTW, if you were to ask the UConn coaches who the one player on ND that they would love to have, it would be Novasel. Geno said last night he doesn't have a player as tough as Natalie Novasel. She has a lot of Shea Ralph in her. I'm sure he's out looking for that.
