Like Claxx. Looked good running. Must be a decent receiver the threw to him 20 yards over the middle.

I would challenge the statement that LM is a "productive and elusive runner." He gained 3.5 ypg last year and the previous year was only 4.2 in his "good" year; hardly productive for a very, very featured back. As far as elusive, didn't see it in his running. At least writer didn't call him powerful.
Every time I write something about LM I keep seeing a good cog that has for some reason been made the whole running machine and I don't get it. If you are this small in college you need to be Noel Devine to get the LM type % of non wildcat carries and he isn't.

I agree on Claxx. Everyone is looking for Joe Williams to break through in 2013, I wouldn't be surprised if Claxx ends up being the break through runner.

I agree with you about LM not being a feature back. He's too small, and he doesn't have that amazing athleticism to scare a defense. I kind of see him as a good change of pace back on a talented team. He does have talent, however, he was just used wrong. Lyle needs to do less inside running and more plays in space where he can utilize his cut back skills and make guys miss. He's actually a very good receiver with over 9 yards a reception over his career. He's made some big plays in the passing game whenever they targeted him. Why there weren't more screens, and quick hits to him, especially when pass rush was collapsing on Whitmer will never be figured out. Also, maybe the coaching staff didn't trust the other backs with fumbles, who knows?

I see HFD as our featured back next year. Welcome back HFD.

"Buggs said that he sees about 20 carries for McCombs a game, or thereabouts, and the staff would like to Williams between 10 and 12 carries a game."

I can live with this. My personal opinion is that LM is a 15-20 carry type of guy. 20 carries a game is still a little high for my liking, but baby steps.........

A running back needs to either 1. run over tacklers, 2. run around tacklers, 3. run by tacklers. Great running backs do all three. Good running backs can do two. Average running backs can do one. McCombs doesn't do any.

lM can't break tackles, he's to small for that, but the others JW, JC, MD, MH will break tackles and get first downs, this will be a plus for this team
