And if this happens wonder if that will stir the pot with AD David Benedict to look at spring scheduling for UConn. He would at least have to start thinking about it and explore the opportunities. Maybe its a very short exploration, or maybe not. I mean what if the MWC quickly follows on? I dont think whatever is decided by the PAC or B1G will influence us very much about spring ball because the PAC schools are too far away and the B1G schools are likely to make a conf only schedule.

Spring football should be a non-starter for all. There is no reason to play 20 games in a calendar year.

No post season. No fan interest. Conflict with hoop and hockey - the baseball.

Administrators screwed up some senior years, others will see another day.

The MAC Schools already lose millions of dollars just having sports. None of them make a quarter of the money off of TV needed to operate their ADs outside the red. Will they need to add leasing NFL Venues to their loss ledgers as well? Otherwise you’re directing kids to play meaningless games outdoors in Ohio during some of the coldest parts of winter. Seems like a winning plan.

They are probably just exploring the idea - preparing the plan - and it will be dead after five minutes of review.

Hard pass on winter football in blizzard season. No glorified scrimmage games.

Season is still salvageable. Its Sept 17th. They should be capable of going on 3 weeks lead time. This is just not that hard.

If we get started on a Rent roof now, can we get it done in 4 months? Can any yarders help? I’m sure the state has the cash for this. My tennis club And local Y just did it. LOL

then we can play Nova there in bball

>>There remain hurdles, and it’s difficult to see how much has tangibly changed. Among those hurdles is the cost of COVID-19 testing for a league facing all kinds of financial strains. Akron and Central Michigan have already cut sports, and Bowling Green cut baseball before private funding saved the program.

The Big Ten’s return comes with daily testing. Two of the three Group of 5 conferences test three times per week, and the Sun Belt tests once for conference games, commissioner Keith Gill told The Athletic earlier this month. The MAC still needs to figure out what it can do and if it can afford it.<<

Saw recent articles projecting daily testing @ $750K-$1M

Never mind that almost everyone else in FBS who is playing is in a conference which builds them a schedule.

Of the indys:
ND joined the ACC
Army is playing a whopping 6 games, 1 which is cast in iron, and 1 which is TBD (due to an outbreak).
BYU has 2 against the AAC (which is probably something we couldn't get right now)
UMASS, UCONN, and NMST all cancelled.
The only winner seems to be Liberty, who kept their 3 games against the ACC as "+1"'s. Geography absolutely has to be a factor here.

Everyone seems to forget the practical matter of our schedule falling apart through no fault of our own. Of our 12 games:

5 cancelled due to opponents cancelling season, at least at the time: (UMASS, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, SJST)
3 were impacted due to scheduling restrictions in conference (Ole Miss, UVA, UNC)
That leaves:
ODU
Liberty
MTSU
Army

*Maybe* we could have gotten into an ACC +1 game, but that is somewhat of a long shot. That's also completely forgetting the matter of travel and restrictions, etc.

Either way, I'm sure you would similarly be whining at a schedule like the above.

Uconn is so bad at football we paid 17 million not to play this year.

Last Monday the team was told they might be playing 1-3 games in the spring with UMass as the marquee game. Wonder was is being said this Monday...or will be said by next Monday.

MAC school intensifies marching band practice - surely a tell tale sign straight from the University President.
