"According to one person who participated in the call, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the specific contents were supposed to be private, the administration did not relay specific timetables but was generally optimistic about infrastructure being in place that would allow sports to resume this summer."

Reportedly, much of the discussion centers on the role of expanded testing in the resumption of sports.

While we all dearly hope that sports can be resumed in some fashion this year, it is worth noting that in a recent interview with the N.Y. Times, Dr Fauci suggested that sports leagues may have to “bite the bullet” and cancel play for the remainder of 2020. He went on to point out that, “Safety for the players and fans trumps everything.”

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer. :(

Oldude your not a Debbie Downer your a realist who hears what Dr Fauci is saying and believes him to be the expert on the panel. We'd all love for the season to go on in some shape or form but I can't see the testing being in place to make it happen. Perhaps a delay to the start of the season with the tournament pushed back accordingly.

We absolutely need a season...what would we talk/complain about on the BY?..:D

bluedevil, I’m absolutely shocked by your statement. Surely you must know by now that if there is one thing that elevates the Boneyard above every other forum in existence, it is the unabashed proclivity for Boneyarders to complain about virtually anything and everything....,,;)

Ummm.......almost anything! You forgot to mention anything we're Allowed to complain about! Otherwise we could at least double (on an off day) the topics! :D

I'm hoping a 'little blue pill' will be available shortly, that will prevent or cure this disease :) . Latest headline from a local paper states: "Pfizer says an emergency COVID-19 vaccine could be ready by fall. American pharmaceutical corporation Pfizer says it may have an emergency COVID-19 vaccine ready by fall and a larger roll out by year's end, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal".

A little blue pill can also be used to vaccinate against COVID-19? Wow! I thought it could just be used for well.....you know.....

But on a serious note, the last time a vaccine was rushed to market was in 1976 during the initial phase of the swine flu epidemic. With the upcoming presidential election in mind, the Ford administration accelerated the development of a vaccine. The vaccine ended up doing more damage than the swine flu, resulting in paralysis to many people who took it. After 8 months, the vaccine was pulled from the market as the swine flu epidemic abated.

It would be great if either Pfizer or Oxford’s vaccine could hit the market quickly and be effective. But I am a little concerned that the development protocols that usually take many years to bring a vaccine to market are being minimized to the point of potentially dangerous consequences.

Maybe it's Pfizer of China. No FDA needed!
