I'd be curious to see what they lost on the Super Bowl alone.

The Pats covering killed RI sports betting. In CT, it has been stalled as it is tied in with the Tribes exclusivity perception, real or otherwise. It would be nice if they reach a compromise soon, or risk losing it for this Leg. Session. The only thing we don’t want is for our Lottery to run it. They are a mess.

Here’s my thought on the whole Tribes exclusivity, the state is going to allow them to do mobile casino games poker, blackjack, slots ,keno etc.

disagree. the lottery is the way to do it. state gets 100% of what they make rather than a fraction from the casinos.

either one is going to outsource it to a terrible outfit like will hill or draft kings anyway

The OTB parlors like Winnings/inside Bobby V’s. They can start tomorrow doing bets. I will give you the lottery if those places are allowed. Hell, let the casinos do it as well.

I don't get it, isn't the line supposed to change as the betting skews in one direction to even it out?

I also disagree with having the lottery run it. They have made some giant mistakes the last few years, and as seen in RI could end up losing instead of making money. Have someone run it on a percentage of the take, they only make money if it is profitable.

It's not uncommon for a particular game to be a money loser for a sports-book.

The movement of the line would depends on who is running the line. If they were dependent on a line from one of the major sports books, then that line wouldn't be adjusted for a bunch of homer bets on the Patriots from locals. In those situations the house could take a disproportionate loss.

There is only so far you can move the line. If you’ve taken millions on NE at -3 if you move too far past 3 you put yourself at risk of taking a ton of money on the other side and getting middled.

Such is life.

I heard some guy on a sports talk show from New Jersey asking what would happen if New Jersey teams made the Final Four and you couldn’t bet on them. My thought is they don’t need to worry. Princeton Seton Hall and Rutgers. Can you imagine any of them in the Final Four? Rutgers!!! ROFL
