Under the circumstances, IMHO, one of her best performances, in an event considered only her third-best of the four. She repeats her balance beam bronze from Rio, but she had to switch her dismount to a double back flip, which she hadn't used in about 10 years, in lieu of her planned twisting dismount.
Since pulling out of the team competition, she worked extremely hard for hours each day at an offsite training gym, where she had to effectively re-learn her gymnastics. The WSJ published a great article on her path back:
