That's vastly oversimplified. Plum averaged 5 apg (and over 500 for her career) and would have had more if she had more talent around her. Her teammates weren't consistent hitting shots from the perimeter or finishing in the lane. You can only get an assist if your teammate can hit a shot. If you watched UW play last year it was very apparent that she made an effort to get her teammates involved, especially early in games. At some point she usually needed to take over. UW played up tempo and pretty much everyone that was on the floor was encouraged to launch a 3 if they got an open look. UW led the Pac 12 in 3 point FG attempts and makes, by a WIDE margin. That wasn't just Kelsey chucking from behind the arc. That was clearly a team offensive philosophy put in place by the coaching staff. Plum is obviously the career scoring leader at UW. #2 on the list is Jazmine Davis, who was Plum's teammate for 2 years. Plum's teammate for 3 years, Talia Walton, is #5 on the list. So obviously Plum wasn't preventing other players from scoring if she played half of her career w/ the #2 scorer and 3/4 of her career w/ the #5 scorer in school history.
