Sparks @ Lynx - 8/11/17 | The Boneyard

Sparks @ Lynx - 8/11/17

If the Lynx win, CT will be only 1.5 games behind LA for the coveted 2 spot in the standings.

I am not watching this game. Please let me know if my guesses are true.

Sparks wins decisively because:

1. Lynx bench is not contributing. Rene used to do that. Now she is starting because Whalen is injured.
2. Brunson used to contain Parker. She no longer can do that. Lynx needs a replacement next year.
3. Maya Moore is having a relatively quiet season.

Sparks broke the game open in the 3rd to lead by 15 but Lynx getting back 59-50, Both teams head and shoulders above other teams defensively. I do not see the Sun being at that level yet.

I have WNBA league pass but cannot see the live stream. Don't know why?

Was it blocked?
Yes. In top left of the screen there were NY vs. Atlanta and Lynx vs. LA score boards, but I can click only NY vs. Atlanta game.

Minny went cold in the 3rd, got outscored by 21-8, then rallied from 15 down, but could't get closer than 3.

Nneka had 3 points. Maya had 12.

Leading scorers: Gray with 23 and Fowles with 17.

Sparks wins decisively because:

They won by 6 using 7 players all night. I think they're going to be tired for their early game on Sunday.

Sparks bench: 9 pts in 23:15 (2 players)
Lynx bench: 3 pts in 27:20 (4 players)

Neither relied too heavily on the bench.

2. Brunson used to contain Parker. She no longer can do that. Lynx needs a replacement next year.

You can only contain Parker so much, especially when she's going 3-6 from three like tonight. I'm not sure if Parker was always Brunson's assignment. Ogwumike was contained tonight as she went 1-8 for the night.

3. Maya Moore is having a relatively quiet season.

It's been "quiet" but she's been coming on in recent games. The offense goes through Fowles more nowadays. She had a couple rim-roller layups tonight, but was fantastic defensively.

You must live in the LA or MIN local broadcast areas.

Minnesota called a timeout in the third after a defensive lapse that saw Sylvia Fowles and another Lynx player seemingly just spacing out while Maya chased Chelsea Gray from behind and Gray went in for a layup. After the timeout, LA played even stronger, widening their lead. That was to my eyes the turning point in the game. Overall, LA just looked sharper. Minnesota missed a lot of easy shots.
