Speaking of which, I sure wish they'd taken us on a field trip to see a basketball game when I was in elementary school. Sure would've beaten the hell out of those boring trips to the arboretum or the San Jacinto monument.

It will be loud. Typically ASU hosts 4,000 to 5,000 elementary and middle school kids for Sparky's Kid to College game.

40 minutes to tip. Jamie Ruden spent the shoot around on the bike trying to warm up her lower back. Devils had a lot of trouble making shots during the shoot around.

During the first game in Southern California the Devils dominated for 3 quarters before Trojan bigs began to assert themselves in the fourth quarter. If I'm not mistaken Pili had 15 + points in the 4th quarter.

It'll be interesting to see how the Devils respond after the loss to the Wildcats last Friday.

Not to look ahead to Sunday but that UCLA game is really pivotal. I hope the Wildcats take the Bruins to the triple overtime tonight down in Tucson.

First five minutes in ASU has more turnovers (5) than points.

USC had 10 turnovers in 1Q, ASU had 6 in about the first 5 minutes.

But despite the turnovers, you can see USC is playing with a lot of confidence, currently on a 3-game win streak. I expect this game to be close the whole way.

Hope ASU overcomes their sluggish sloppy play.

Alissa Pili went to the bench early in 2Q with her 2nd foul. That's a big deal because she's been the rock for USC since conference play started.

The turnover-fest continues. Midway thru 2Q, USC has 15 and ASU has 12.

ASU is well known as a very physical team, but USC is no slouch in that area. Charli remarked at the halftime interview that her team is having to adjust to how physical this game is.

USC did well to get within single digits at the half. At 28-20 they are very much in this game if they can overcome their foul trouble in their front line. Overbeck and Pili both have 2 fouls.

I didn't know until I looked at her bio that Aliyah Jeune started at Rutgers before transferring to Morehead State.

Positives.

These kids are making noise I may be wrong but I think it's almost as loud as it was last Friday night at McKale.

The Devils are shooting well and more importantly spreading the shots around. As I said after the loss in Tucson ASU will not win if any of their players is taking 21 shots.

I thought the intensity picked up considerably in the second quarter.

Negative

TURNOVERS

I'm wondering if Van Hefty's knee is worst than reported. The Trojan bigs are massive but not fleet of foot, Jayde is having trouble getting to her position.

Ruden 1 for her last 10 over last 10 quarters.

First appearance of the curtain of distraction....sharks fail to distract. USC steals inbound and scores to cut lead to 4.

Pili picked up her 3rd foul early in 3Q and headed back to the bench. But ASU couldn't extend their lead while she was out. USC stayed within 9 at the media timeout.

Coming out of the media TO, Rogers got an and-1 and then Jeune got a steal and layup to cut the lead to 4.

The veteran-laden ASU team making lots of rookie mistakes.

Wish I was wrong with the above statement. Ryan misses late but knocks the rebound to a teammate. A late three by Richardson was the difference.

ASU survives in triple OT.
