Thanks, living in Fairfield County this update makes me feel better. Nothing wrong with spreading UConn brand down south, no matter the opponent.

I think more kids show to the XL if there larger blocks of really good seats.. are there buses from campus to xl?

Wonder if this is suppose to move us closer to the ny market

Or at least Fairfield County. This is why I'd feel much better about Bridgeport than Mohegan Sun.

Not a single post criticizing the AD. Wow.

I am all for it. Move 1 or 2 games to Bridgeport.

Any chance that we can play an "away" game in Bridgeport vs Fairfield, which plays its home games there? Might kill 2 birds...
I'd assume they want to play out of state opponents in Bridgeport. You don't market yourself by playing Fairfield University. Time shall tell.

As long they are moving the games from the XL, I'm fine with it. Let's see if FC actually supports the team by packing the place. I suspect that establishing a negotiation position may be part of the motivation, either for a reduction of cost or upgrades to the facility.

copy and pasted from the article on the courant:
UConn is interested in moving several games in an effort to expand its brand and allow fans in other areas a chance to see the teams play. A majority, if not all, of the games moved to the other sites would come from the allotment of the XL Center.

Its almost as if we dont have a stadium on campus
I know there will be a bunch of games at Gampel, but you have to admit it's nice to see them try to set things up in Fairfield county. It's not like Fairfield is 3 hours away from campus, but it is a bit of a hike for weeknight games. I think it's a nice change of pace.

Living in Jacksonville, I get to see one UF and one FSU game per year in our arena (if I want to). I am certainly not a UF or FSU fan, but I am surrounded by a ton of them who graduated and came back home, many of whom do not get to go back too often to see a game (we are 1 1/2 hours from Gainesville and 3 from Tallahassee).

All of these fans, and many others as the tickets are generally pretty cheap, are able to catch a game live that they normally would not have. It has worked quite well here, and I think it would do wonders in CT as well.
