The Lakers made a good move. They will be much better defensively. Plus they got Nash. They've certainly made a push to compete with the Thunder in the playoffs. The Nuggets got Iggy, good for them. And Philly may have done alright. Obviously, the Magic just wanted to get rid of the basketcase that is Howard, and begin the rebuilding process.

Afflalo and Harkless are solid pick-ups. Plus 3 First Round Picks and cap relief. Everyone wins in this trade, but the Magic really did well.

Again, they went from contender in the Eastern Conference, to rebuilding. But, yes, I get there is a silver lining (no Howard).

Trading Dwight for Harkless and Afflalo is nowhere near a good deal. All 3 picks are protected, not that it matters because each of those teams are playoff teams who improved with the trade. What a trainwreck for Orlando.

I can understand not wanting to sign Brook Lopez to a max deal, but the Nets offer and the Rockets offer was much better. I can't believe they couldn't have landed either Gasol or Bynum either. I remember last year Gasol and Bynum were being talked about together in a Dwight deal, and now the Magic are getting Aron Afflalo.

Not like they could hang with the Heat anyways. They weren't keeping Bynum or Gasol for long. Take the 3 first rounders and run.

Not too many teams can hang with the Heat and that is fine. Their new concern is hanging with the Bobcats. Those 3 first rounders will all be late first rounders, which is almost worthless IMO.

I mean they have Jameer Nelson and um, um, Ryan Andersen, um Big Baby, um JJ Reddick, Aaron Afflalo, and I can't remember who else (sorry). The best thing for them, is they dumped a great player, but a malcontent, on a Western Conference team, giving him what he wanted (unfortunately). They didn't get much value in return for said talent.

Lakers are scary good. Definitely the early favorites to win the title next year.

Well its about time. This drama with Howard has been going on forever. The Lakers are without a doubt a lot better now. Something i find pretty funny is Andre Igoudola currently playing on the olympic team with his head coach Doug Collins broadcasting every game for NBC and he gets traded right in front of his eyes. I wonder if Collins knew this was on the horizon?

I cant wait to hear what Collins will say during the broadcast, hes been around the league long enough to know its a business. Im sure it wont be as akward as it was during the 96 olympics, when Shaq signed with the Lakers and he was on the olympic team with Penny Hardaway.

Cleveland, Sacramento, Utah, Minnesota, Orlando, Indiana, Milwaukee, Portland, Denver, Memphis, etc., should commit hari-kari at this point. There's no point in continuing NBA basketball in those markets.

Awful deal for the Magic, this is like what the Hornets deal would've been like if the original CP3 deal had went through, except 10x worse. No very good to great young talent coming back to them or great picks, Houston must have bluffed on their deal since Howard said he wouldn't resign because I don't see how you don't take their deal over this.

I would still take the Heat w/ a healthy Wade and the Thunder over them. Lakers still don't have the perimeter players to deal with the Thunder out West.

Once again the Lakers fleece everyone involved in a mega trade. It's insane to me they were able to complete this deal while keeping Gasol.

And execs whine about the Nets getting Howard? Ridiculous. I hope Howard still goes to the Nets and leaves the Lakers with nothing.

Heat are still the favorites, with OKC being 2a and Lakers 2b. Lakers also added Antwan Jamison front court they will dominate, how will they defend the speed of OKC and Miami is the question.

Not shocked im not even mad to me its like ho hum what else is new. The Lakers have always fleeced everyone it goes way back.

The Lakers traded away a washed up Gail Goodrich for New Orleans Jazz highest pick in 1979 which turned out to be Magic Johnson. Lakers trade away Don Ford and a first round pick for Clevelands future first round pick which was James Worthy which was the same year the Lakers won a title. Not to mention the Lakers traded away 5 average role players for Kareem back in 75. On a smaller scale the Lakers traded away Norm Nixon who was a very solid player who maxed out his potential for rookie Byron Scott which turned into a great trade for the Lakers. Then onto the 90s.

Trading Vlade Divac for Kobe on draft day lmao. Of course there is the Gasol trade even though the Grizzlies did get the other Gasol.

Players who forced with way to the Lakers through trades: Wilt, Kareem, Kobe, Dwight

Basically, the Lakers have added Steve Nash and Dwight Howard and lost only Andrew Bynum.

Good Lord, that's some excellent general managin' there.

The Knicks are mismanaged, have been mismanaged and will be mismanaged until space junk falls and crushes James Dolan. We'll suffer until then.

The Knicks have driven me to a point that only the Minnesota Vikings had previously managed to - I actually root against them. I want bad things to happen to the Knicks. I don't like the players, I don't like the coach, I don't like the owner. I want them to lose every game as I think that's the only way we'll eventually get out from under all this.

I don't wish ill on anyone, that is except for James Dolan, I loathe the drunken bastard. The Knicks have no prayer of ever winning anything while he is alive and running the team. He actually makes Donald Sterling seem like a decent human being and owner, that is saying something.
