Did Geno and UConn stop doing the camp over the summer for middle/high school girls? Was trying to find info on it for my little cousin but couldn't find anything more than a John A. Q&A that said they discontinued it?!

No camp for several years now.

Omg that's terrible!! Do you know why they stopped doing it? Those were the highlight of every one of my summers in middle/high school!!

I know just teasing.

The work load for UConn coaches outweighed the benefits.

Most college sponsored summer sports camps are "produced" (and they are a big production) for two reasons: 1) recruiting benefits. and 2) summer income for the coaching staffs.

For UConn WBB, there were no recruiting benefits. And the coaches (who are very well paid) needed a rest in the summer more than they needed some extra cash.

In recent years Geno's commitments to USA Basketball have consumed a lot of his summer hours.

UConn does enjoy one continuing benefit from the summer camps they ran years ago. Her initials are MM -- as in Marisa Mosely. When she was in college (BU IIRC) she worked the UConn summer camps for 2 or maybe 3 years. The campers loved her; and the UConn players who were coaching at the camps, loved working with her. When Jamelle Elliot left the coaching staff to go to Cincinnati, Geno's phone began ringing. It was former UConn players (lots of them) calling to say: "Hire Marisa!" Geno got permission from Marisa's AD to talk with her. And he quickly made the hire. UConn never even started a traditional "nationwide search" for Jamelle's replacement.

I wonder if Kait was at the camps any of the years that MM was coaching. What say you, Kait?

I am almost positive she was one of my coaches.. Totally get them stopping it because of lack of benefits.. But it was definitely the best camp I ever went to
