[QUOTE="KnightBridgeAZ, post: 1993207, member: 591"] I happen to think that it is precisely the coaching that gets the performances out of the players UConn gets. If Geno gets lets say the 20th best player at her position, I'll bet that 9 times out of 10 that, at UConn, she plays like she was one of the 10 best players. If he gets the 10th best at her position, she plays like a top 5. Then you have the top 5 he gets - Maya, Brianna, etc. This years team is not - in my opinion - as naturally talented as some of UConn's past teams. How are they playing? But most - I say most - college teams simply do not have the talent that UConn has. And certainly not year in and year out. This year for sure there are other teams, although none have Geno to make them play as spectacularly as UConn. But who really could equal last year's team with the players that came back this year and the 3 WNBA top draft picks? Some other team had more talent? My argument is not with you, per se, (as I said in my post, you are correct that the writer was incorrect) it is with all the UConn fans who think that acknowledging the skills of the great players that Geno brings to UConn (and then makes better than they could imagine they could be) somehow diminishes what Geno does. To me, it is an integral part of what he does. As I have said before, I don't think UConn wins simply because of the talent - but I believe when they are dominating and beating top teams by 30 points, it is their level of talent that is the difference between simply winning and dominating.
