Something worth monitoring: Lowest single-game MOV record

In January 2014, the Huskies went to Waco and beat Baylor by 11 points. Throughout Uconn's 40-0 season, that was the lowest single-game MOV. The new record, then, was "highest-lowest" single-game MOV. Never has the lowest single-game MOV been more than 11 for any WCBB program in D1.

Once a team has been defeated, it is eliminated from contention for this record; a loss is a negative MOV. Thus, only still-undefeated teams remain in contention to reset the record.

There are 16 teams in D1 other than UConn (already eliminated via the two-point win over FSU) that are still undefeated. I will list those teams, along with the lowest single-game MOV in parentheses:

Like you seem to be, and so with us all, for obvious reasons MOV isn't the best indicator of excellent play. And, of course, there's also A(verage)MOV, leadership in which doesn't require an undefeated season.

But winning every game by 11+? That's just an amazing record, so you may be right as to how untouchable that record appears to be.

You can always get a super team - e.g. Griner/Sims, so I could see 11+ happening again someday. Not likely but plausible.
But sustained excellence over 23+ years doesn't happen.

The record holds! USF lost its first game of the season in a stunning upset to Long Beach State. The highest lowest single-game in-season MOV is 11 points, in a season when UConn went 40-0 and beat Baylor 66-55.

Will this record ever be touched? The magnificent 2014 team, with all of its five starters on HoH Wall by now, set standard after standard and may just be the greatest we've ever had. Of course, we're so spoiled that arguments could be made for 2002 and 2016, but that 2014 squad was truly divine.

And how quickly did this record hold up this season? That was fast!
