While I still think the defense is the most important component to this team, defending the defensive glass has to become better.

Ideally, Niles, Roscoe and DeAndre would do better than a combined zero rebounds in 17 minutes of playing time. There's almost twenty linear feet of Husky there and 0-2, 2 points and zero rebounds is not really going to do it.

Rebound, kids.

West Virginia is top 20 in the nation in offensive rebounding, but yeah, we were a little exposed in that area tonight.

The consistent lack of production out of the 3 spot is the biggest concern going forward. Every other aspect of the team has been good or shown signs of life. Only consistent deficit has been production from the 3.

Which speaks volumes to the versatility of this team. We can go three guards with Lamb playing the three if need be. He did have 8 or 9 boards tonight.

That's what JC did do. Boat played 29, AO 28, AD 36, JL 40, SN 36.

Next group: TO 15, NG 10, DD and RS, 3 each.

Suddenly, we are barely playing 7 guys. JL is our 3 man now.

Jones was manhandling everyone underneath. His first half 3's nonwithstanding I thought he did us a favor playing on the perimeter. We need to get ferocious down there, Live though I have to say that TO was competing very hars underneath. Drummond for his size gets pushed out consistently, although he is good at tipping to himsself, he needs to hold position better.

Roscoe's gotten something like 5 minutes in the last two games combined. Last year he was excellent on the glass, especially when he was an oversized 3. But he just doesn't give enough in the rest of his game to justify the minutes.

And Olander just isn't strong enough to bang bodies in the Big East. He gets muscled out of position very easily.

They all seemed to have played well....with the exception of our combo forwards.

They simply cannot exist on a basketball court for 17 minutes without grabbing a rebound.

Kevin Jones was indeed a monster, but he wasn't their responsibility. Gary Browne is not a monster - he is a smurf, but he is a smurf with four offensive rebounds this evening.

Again, something to work on.

I'd like to see UConn just live or die with Roscoe for 15-20 a night.

Once AD learns how to use his body, he should be a monster rebounder. He just does not instinctively move to get and hold rebounding position. Jones really did move Andre out and got easy put-backs on a couple of occasions. However, Jones only had 5 total rebounds, well under his average.

I was shocked to see AO get called for a foul on that foul shot where Kilicli just mugged him. Alex didn't get many rebounds, but he played well in battling Kilicli. Tyler didn't have much of a chance against that kid.

Yikes....I think that the Huskies would be doing a good deal of dying the way things have been going with RS getting that many minutes. He's a great kid, but he can't pass, can't shoot, and can't dribble/drive this year, at least so far. Jeremy Lamb is now our primary 3 man. I still think that Giffey offers what the team needs the most if he can ever just play relaxed and not like he has a cork up his tookus. We need someone who can pass, move the ball, make smart glue-type plays especially when AD and AO are in the game together. If TO is playing the 4, he can provide some of those things and then maybe RS or DD would be better options.

I don't care if he never scores again, Smith is too good a defender not to get 10-15 minutes a night. I'd rather have him in that Niels.

And only 2 for Olander. Boat outrebounded all four of them. It's weird seeing the ball coming off the glass and nobody but Jeremy in anything resembling defensive rebounding position. Drumond can get 'em even when he is out of position, fortunately.

Add rebounding to one of the things we miss with Kemba gone. He was an awesome secondary rebounder. Heck, I think he got the game high a couple of times.

Still can't figure out what is going on with AO. Remember how dominant he could be on the glass? Against Michigan State, he wanted every ball more than anyone on the floor and seemed like he was 50/50 to get every board.

So many of the replays showed our guys just not putting a body on the WVU player, maintaining contact and keeping position by using lower body strength and leverage.

It happened several times where the Uconn player had position and contact and just lost contact with the WVU player. No excuses for this team not to dominate on the defensive glass other than effort and determination. The players have the size and athleticism to rebound with anyone.

Didn't Fishy just say that?

I wish they took a charge once in a while.

I'm picturing Fishy as Tom Hanks in League of Their Own telling the blonde chick to hit the cut off man, as he's trembling with anger.
