Shooting the basketball sometimes has little to do with either great athleticism or practice, practice, practice. It's totally unreasonable to think all of a sudden Gabby's going to become an average shooter let alone a good one over the next # of games, when she hasn't been able to over her three and a half years of college ball. She doesn't have a soft touch and that's very hard to learn. It makes more sense to accept Gabby(and anyone else for what they are and can do) than dream / wish for the moon. She's a truly unique, incredibly athletic, player who has an amazing motor and anticipation. I do believe almost everyone can and should work to strengthen weaknesses. But this is one area that I think just won't happen. I also don't think MW will become a consistent bench player this year. I do think she will use the summer to both figure it out and put it together. Yes KLS and her appear to both be primarily threes or wing players, that will be figured and worked out. I think AZ is just learning to play on a team with such skilled, focused, capable teammates and in such a pressured environment. It's much of what she wanted when she chose to transfer here. Yet as with almost everything there is a learning curve. She will play a significant offensive role and yet won't likely be able to understand yet, what a true big needs to do offensively and defensively. I expect her to grow into it unevenly at best. But next year she will become a fuller more balanced player. No one knows yet what CW and Ono's learning curve will look like until they are here and it's happening. I think both will develop at least a bit more quickly than MW as ones clearly a point guard and the other a big. Meghan is not big enough at the college level that her skill set that brought her so much success thru HS will convert so easily to being a consistently sold contributor in college in her first year. She needs to figure out and adjust and then there likely will be a sophomore jump. Bronx23
