I was not a soccer fan before I started coaching my young kids in soccer. (Which, initially at least, is basically a continuous rugby scrum around the ball.) As they moved up I learned more about the game, and now I enjoy watching it. Like most sports you have to be reasonably informed so that you understand what’s happening away from the ball. Then you can see things develop and the game becomes much more engaging.
