Karen scored a good win over Tennessee and a great win win over Stanford this past week. As the ship looks righted and a visit back to the Top 25 on the horizon, I would be shocked if she is not renewed at then end of the year. To me, she is no long #1 on the Coaches Hotseat watch list. Now is this post meantime to be callous-no, just observational in what programs need to do more and improve. With JPM and Sherri Coale having contracts thru 2021, they are safe. So with conference play about to start and some programs about to be exposed (Kansas) what schools simply need to move on and find better leaders to make their programs better? Here’s my stab at it in the P5 +2 AAC-Tulsa, SMU and ECU have been trending down. ECU just changed coaches and SMU is on season 4 with Travis but it’s clear this is not working. My guess is Tulsa and SMU will change. Big East-other than Villanova, no school will make a change as perennial doormat Xavier just hired a Michigan assistant this past year. ACC- I don’t care what she did as a player, Hoover has been dreadful at Wake Forest and it doesn’t look better in the foreseeable future. It’s time to move on. Big12-Kansas needs to move onto someone and not be fooled by this HORRIBLE OOC #229 that has current coach at 10-0 (soon to 11-0 when they play #274 Wofford). Brandon Schneider’s contract expires in April 2020 so my guess is he will be left to walk. Big 10- Illinois and Wisconsin are not good but with newer coaches at the helms and slight improvements being seen, I think all BIG10 coaches are on solid footing. PAC12-To me, JR Payne has “pulled a Kansas” and scheduled a pathetic OOC #173 to mask that her program is not close to competing in the brutal PAC12. Her conference wins are diminishing and she’s picked 12th again and this is year 4 of her 5 year contract. As CU had to buy out the previous coach and Payne is earning a paltry $175k plus incentives, she’s safe for one more year. All others appear safe as well SEC-WIth LSU improving, Nikki is safe (sorry @SECbbfan24 ), Florida is still a mess but coach is in year 2. Ole Miss also is a mess but that coach is in year 2 as well. The only choice is Vanderbilt and Stephanie White with a huge contract, terrible results and a poor recruit outlook, that said, I think she has a 5 year contract so the Commodores may be stuck for 1 more year-good news for the rest of the SEC. For me, Kansas Program is the #1 Hotseat watch but is the eye candy of 11-0 doing to fool the regents? What say you?
