I haven't seen a single thing mentioned in the media or during the broadcast about McFadden being hurt but folks in the chat who were watching swore that Joe was holding his left hamstring after the missed short FG.
In the Courant article, Spanos was quoted as saying that the reason he went for it on 4th down was that "we were moving the ball well" or something like that. Nothing about a hurt kicker.
Lastly, in the Play by Play report, the kickoff after our last TD in the 4th quarter was supposedly made by McFadden (but I know those can be wrong).
All of these signs point to him not really being hurt and the 4th down call was something made by Spanos based on a hunch (with a horrible play call by the way - running Mensah straight up the middle). This feels like one of the unrecognized huge influences on the result?
