I think it would be the same as when Tina, the senior, schooled Brittany, the talented freshman when they met in the NCAA semis.

It's more likely that BG will have a problem with the combination of Stewart/Dolson. No one player is going to affect Griner by herself.

Simply put, no. Breanna and Stef may cause BG problems, but Breanna herself, absolutely not.

Offensively, Breanna has the potential to be a problem for Griner. Defensively less so.

It's not a 1-on-1 game. It's a team game.
Stewart's presence gives UConn's offense and defense another dimension which, hopefully, will cause Baylor problems.

Next year if things jell we should be able to make any team in the nation have big problems. I do not know who joins Baylor next year, but without a big coming in who contributes early I think we will have enough to overcome BG and company.

Alexis Prince comes in. She's good but cannot play alongside Griner, I don't think.

In the last Stanford/Uconn game, the O sisters had their shots blocked repeatedly in Stanford's first possessions. It changed the whole tenor of the game.

Breanna is shorter than Brittany, but has long arms, more elevation and good timing. If she could block a shot by Griner early, I think she could disrupt Brittany's game psychologically.

Offensively, Breanna might even be able to score against her occasionally, especially if she would use the basket. I don't know why players don't use the basket to fend off Griner's shot blocking.

With the combination of Dolson/Stewart on the floor, BG will have to guard one of them. So, set up a high screen near the 3pt line (we already do this) pulling BG away from the hoop then either Dolson/Stewart will have an advantage down low......unless Baylor plays zone.....then BS can hit a 3! :p

Ridiculous to think a freshman is going to come in and school the senior Griner. But as a team we will dominate everyone in 2014.
Sadly, for 2013 we'll have to be satisfied with just beating everyone.

I'd agree if it was Breanna the Freshman against Brittney the freshman, but Brittney is not the same player she was 4 years ago.

Alone... no... but combine Stewart with Dolson and an improved Stokes.... and yes... things will be interesting next year.
I am curious about the Jefferson Simms matchup myself.

It also does not hurt we have KML and Stewart

She could impact Griner with her off the ball defense as I can't see her guarding her 1-1.

There is no one that can stop Griner one on one and next season after getting confidence in the Olympics it will be even harder. But UConn as team will be much more balanced inside/outside game and will be much harder to beat by Baylor or anyone else.

A problem? Could be, though Griner is taller and more experienced. On the other hand, Griner may never have played against someone with a 7' wingspan. Breanna will not school Griner. The reverse is more likely. But Breanna could disrupt Griner some.

Let's be perfectly clear: Griner is going to be a force of nature next season. UConn, as a team, can beat Baylor as a team with its depth, of which Breanna Stewart will certainly be a part. Breanna will certainly need to provide a positive and significant contribution for UConn to beat Baylor. But Griner will be on another level.

Thankfully, unlike Baylor's 2010 Final Four team, UConn's 2012-13 will be loaded to the gills with talented players, and thus the fate of its season doesn't rest on the slender shoulders of a freshman phenom.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Buck as part of the team effort to help contain Griner. Seems to me she's done a good job in this regard the last two games.
