So I doubt many are watching but I am.

It's odd watching SMU as a UConn conference mate. The American logo is jarring.

It's hard not to watch Texas Tech and try to figure out why they deserve to be in a legitimate conference while UConn dies on the vine.

Flipping hot there... 100 (probably 110+ on field).

Gilbert not looking too shabby for now.

The speed on the field makes it look like the game is being played in Fast Forward.

Klingsbury when he was with the Patriots couldn't be bothered to learn the playbook. He was cut quickly, and as the 4th QB on the roster trying to earn a spot in preseason, the guy trash talked the opposition.

Very hard to believe this guy is a D1 HC.

Watching Klingsbury makes me want to hire Danny O next season. Maybe he could get decent QB play. JK!

While they have been bad more often than good, Texas Tech has attempted to play football at the highest NCAA level for eighty years (initially with the forerunner to the WAC), sixty years ago joining the what was then viewed as the top football conference in the country (SWC). We've been at this for a dozen years an over that dozen haven't had the football product that they've had. Do you really believe that we are more worthy of a seat at the than they are?

Yes I know all that. My gripe is with the people of Connecticut who didn't get on board and support the programs to the point where they can't be ignored.

Gilberts not great but I like that he tries to stand in and make the play instead of bailing under pressure. The long ball was a perfect example. Sure he holds it maybe too long but he's all in.

SMU and Houston are better teams than the teams in the old BE.

I've been trying to get this through the head of not only the odd straggling old rivals that come by this board, but our very own fans. And some of the ACC fans like Billybud.

Gilbert threw that ball up for grabs and TTU's FS was late rotating over. Gilbert then killed the drive with 3 bad plays. SMU's defense is good though.

Gilbert can not read the blitz at all. June Jones could teach anyone on the Boneyard how to read the blitz in about a month. Gilbert has been there over a year.

Good lord that was a terrible holding call. This is the problem with college football.

That holding call changed the game. Kind of luck the bad call on McCombs's TD. UConn folded after that. We'll see if SMU has some mental toughness. You have to overcome marginal calls. Can't fold. They happen each and every game.

And there you see the difference between SMU and UConn.

With SMU and Houston being on TV like this instead of buried as they were in past years, they can keep a lot of talent home that would otherwise be headed to Utah, Colorado, Iowa St, Kansas St, Arizona St. etc.

This is a big part of the reason why, Whaler...

All I see is a whole lot more speed, athleticism and intensity. They will utterly destroy us if the same UCONN shows up for that game. Look at a 62 -7 loss.

I think that was Edsell's sick genius (not a big fan, but obviously should have been). Grinding in the trenches and sliwingvrhe game down neutralizes these type of teams. Think how we handled Baylor. We come in playing their game and we get whacked bad.
