OT: - SMU beats Zona | The Boneyard

OT: SMU beats Zona

Two huge wins for the AAC tonight. That would have been great if Wichita St beat ND last night.

Did I see that an unranked SMU was like a 7.5 point favorite vs #2 Zona?

How is that possible?

NC State beat Arizona yesterday and then lost to Northern Iowa today.

Nice win - but Arizona might have some issues.

Great wins today for the AAC. Lets keep the momentum going tomorrow. Cheers

It would stun the ncaa athletic world if we get five or six teams into the tourney this year. There would be great fits by the power conferences behind closed doors.

Even the middle of the pack teams are solidly representing. Excluding the dumpster fires that are ECU & USF, who are 221 and 264 in kenpom respectively, the lowest ranked squad in kenpom is Memphis at 139. Our SOS is going to be insane. Win 2 or 3 of Mich St, Zona, Nova, Wich St., Cincy and it will be almost impossible to keep us out of the dance.

There is some gerrymandering by the NCAA committee depending on who chairs it but for the most part the AAC basketball woes were self inflicted and a good part of those wounds were the failures of UConn and Memphis.

Personally I don’t like the conference from a geographical standpoint because it makes it difficult to develop rivalries. However the universities are committed to upgrading their major sports and I’ve always felt the AAC would ultimately pass the Big East.

UConn at #146 post Oregon win. Oregon drops to #36 with the loss.
Wait.... how the heck are we so low? How do they even calculate this thing?? And I mean look at some of the teams ahead of us...
