Sly Stone, the leader of Sly and the Family Stone, has died at 82.

I was in attendance at MSG when Sly was married on stage on June 4, 1974. Rode down in the back of an U-Haul truck with high school classmates from Ridgefield.

I was privileged to see Sly Stone once - at the Grammys in LA when they put on a Sly and the Family Stone tribute in 2006. Sly had not been seen in decades, and came out to sing with everyone and we were all on our feet.

He was such an amazing singer and inclusive leader (not to mention the hair!!). RIP Sly Stone!
