Seattle is a tough team to root for. Winning pretty handily in Phoenix and then being down by 14th in the 4th Q to the Sky at home before a strong rally to force overtine. Loyd and Stewie were excellent but the best part may be Natasha Howard who I think can really solidify the post. Tough hard-nosed player.

At end of game, Quigley seemed to hurt her knee and had to leave the game. She is very important to the team. Without her, there is no player to give any guaranteed offense. Hope she is not seriously hurt.

Quigley is certainly impressive - hard to believe she struggled to catch on in the W so much out of college when watching her today. Five years of bouncing from team to team and getting a few games each year. A total of 24 games in those five years before arriving in Chicago and playing 30+ each year, and then last year becoming a full time starter in year in her 9th year.

Stewart finally has a few players to help in the post allowing her to rest some from defending centers. And Loyd no longer being forced to play PG when Sue takes needed breaks has made her a more consistent performer.

Quigley looks like a natural. I didn’t know until a year ago that she was so far removed from college.

Howard isn’t a true center, but she gives Seattle more than Langhorne does. She made a key block on Diamond late in the game. Most Improved Player??

I agree about Jewell being the backup PG. She wasn’t very good at that, and it took energy away from other things. When Jewell takes good shots, she’s very effective. She’s athletic enough to get off ANY shot, but some of them are low percentage shots. One of the hallmarks of UConn players is taking good shots.

Maybe by virtue of Most Improved Situation. She was a backup at Minnesota, and now it appears she’s going to be a starter.

Speaking of Brianna Stewart, I bumped into her and Alysha Clark walking in the Mandalay Bay Hotel (Las Vegas) this evening. We're here for the Aces/Storm game tomorrow.
