I’m sure that 9-yr old isn’t seeing that money

This isn't any different from being a child actor or whatever. The only change with the NIL rules is that this kid could now play college football. Before he couldn't sign a deal like this without forfeiting eligibility.

Aside from my love affair with UConn men's basketball I am on the verge of giving up sports. I will settle for high school hoops here in VT where there is not a player who thinks he will make the NBA.
This is just wrong.
You clearly have not talked to enough parents in the stands

This kid didn’t even get rizzed up by livvy

Does it even count as “NIL” when the kid is 9? Isn’t this just a company giving some kid money?
I don't think so. To me, "NIL" doesn't exist without the NCAA and I doubt most people will be able to pick a prepubescent kid out of a lineup in 4 years.

Without reading more into it than the article, This is a father taking advantage of his own connections to exploit his child for reasons...probably tax related, and if so, not the smartest move to make the stunt public.

So instead of reading into it more you baselessly suggest a father is exploiting his son as part of a tax scheme? That’s healthy discourse…

You should read into it more then

First, it's my opinion and I don't think it is baseless. I read the article. What else is there? Searching for more is a waste of time, because I really don't care beyond conversation.

A 9 year old is a world beater at football, baseball, track and karate? Wow. Color me impressed . The kid has yet to enter puberty, let alone go through it. Are there not thousands of 9 year olds who can run fast in California alone? Is he hitting breaking balls over the fence off 12 year olds headed to the Little League World Series? Wouldn't it say if he were? What level football?

Besides, the kid "signing" a contract of this nature is pure spectacle. As a minor, it's non-binding.

Let's see what endorsements the agency gets them, but for now I remain unconvinced.

Have you read about Baby Gronk and his dad?

Todd Marinovich without the talent. I'm sure it'll work out great.

Hopefully he turns out better than Mikey Williams who got his money early. He’s now facing gun charges after signing big money.
