The UCONN D had a pretty good game yesterday and I attribute it to patience and intelligence. SM3 spoke about creating chaos and it has been pretty evident after the first 3 games. The D, especially the linebackers and safeties, have been very good at disguising their coverages, reading the right keys, and timing their blitzes and coverage adjustments just as the ball is being snapped. They look like they are in sync and trusting each other.
How many times did Hills get under center and fake the snap in order to determine what the UCONN D would do? Then after getting his adjustment from the sideline the UCONN D would adjust just as the ball was being snapped into something different. They kept MD and Hills guessing all afternoon ... and it had more to do with patience and intelligence than it did with speed and athleticism!
