Just some data, correct me if you see errors.

Since 1987 Uconn has lost or been "blown out" 46 times by 15 or more points. 9 of those times have been in the Ollie era.

The loss today is the worst since 1979 when Uconn lost to Syracuse 101-61.

On average (between 1987 and last year), Uconn loses by 15 or more about 1.5 times per year. Uconn has already reached that limit with 4 blowouts in 2017. However other years in which they were blown out more than average (and more than 3 times) are 1988 (3 times), 1990 (3 times), 1993 (3 times), 1995 (3 times), 2003 (4 times), 2010 (3 times), 2012 (3 times).

Here are the scores:
Uconn 67 Arkansas 102 (2017)
Uconn 57 MSU 77 (2017)

One thing all the teams that throttle us have in common, physicality

Stronger, physical teams seem to push us around and we just don't match up with them very well

That's even true for the Louisville teams that destroyed us three times in our last championship season

You know, a 35 point beat down by a Top 5 team would be one thing but a 35 point beating from an unranked Arkansas team is very different. I get that we are thin on talent this year but a good coach should get this group to at least be competitive against the likes of Arkansas. And we do have talent and that talent is in the critical back court positions. This is really disturbing. And the bipolar nature of the team is something out of a horror film.

Add to that the exodus and Calhoun distancing himself and...wow...just, wow.

Not disputing the general point, but Arkansas may be ranked by this afternoon. Certainly receiving votes.

I wish we had a reputation of physical play. When the refs consider you a “physical team” (MSU, Cincy, Louisville, WVU, SMU) you can get away with a ton of contact because that’s what they expect. One of our beanstalks breathes on a dude and it’s a foul.

Yes, as well as Cincy and SMU after Lville and before Lville, there was Pitt. I was too young to recall, but those late 80 and early 90s St Johns and Gtown teams, were they physical too?

Our front court players don't seem to have any offensive abilities. Because they are not part of the offense, I feel they stop playing defense and it seems to be a layup line going the other way

15-20 point losses are understandable. I bad night, a hot opponent. 35 pt. losses are inexcusable under any circumstances. That's like us playing a D3 school. Have we become UHart?

I understand. This thread kind of even highlights that fact. How? You have to go back 40 years to find a loss of more than 35, aside from last night obviously and that is what I am trying to point out. I had to stop keeping track of scores by 1987. Because the last awful loss of that magnitude was 1979 to Syracuse, 101-61. And I am not keeping track from 1980 to 1987, just too much as is from 1987 to 2017. This thread is absolutely NOT excusing that loss last night. Rather, an exercise on looking back historically to see just how bad it was. And I think that 1979 loss is at least somewhat understandable as Uconn was nowhere near what they have been since 1999 (to 2014).

As a side not: Interesting enough, since Ollie has taken the coaching job, Cincy, Uconn's closest AAC peer, has been blown out by 15+ 8 times, 5 since joining the AAC.

2013, 41-62 to NDame
2013, 51-67 to Lville
2013, 43-62 to GTown
2013, 47-64 to Xavier
2014, 55-76 to SMU
2014, 47-68 to VCU
2015, 59-75 to Temple
2017, 56 to 71 to SMU

Just THREE times in the AAC. Wow. Those 8 since 2013, are just one more than Uconn, actually. SMU has smoked Uconn 3 times but also Cincy twice.

Back to back healthy losses of margins over 20 points by essentially the same starting lineup that would win the title the next year for Calhoun. Alright, I'm getting off the cliff. Virginia Tech was BAD that year, too.

What people forget when they mention USF, ECU, some of these UCF teams, etc and how awful they were (rightfully so), is some of those BC, Seton Hall or St. Johns teams, etc. were pretty darn bad too. Maybe a notch above the former, if they are lucky.
