Until last night game, he’s been in cruise control, willingly deferred to others for scoring duties while trying to fit in primarily as a facilitator. But oh boy, did he come out super aggressive last night! Some highlights of his plays: He was on the floor scraping for loose balls, driving into the teeth of defense and hanging in the air for And1 basket, not scared to mix it up for put-back and 1, and calmly sunk a jumper when our chance of winning game is hanging by a thread.

With the stats 21pts/5rbs/7asts/2steals, He kind of reminded me of 2-time champs Tristen or another Georgia recruit in his all around game, what’s his name, oh yeah, Castle!

Now it all made sense what Hurley did, Demary Jr. Is that guy that he needs to ride on for our next championship!

In control while he probes the defense, doesn’t pick up his dribble in bad spots, always looking to create for others, and showed he’s the dog that will go get you a tough bucket when needed. Honestly, the speed at which he’s picked up the system (coming from basically no structure at UGA) is incredible. Absolute stud and I’m incredibly excited to see how he fits with Mullins once he’s back.

Silas definitely stepped up his game last night. He was our primary ball handler, he made plays, defended, showed a lot of toughness out there. Got a couple of buckets we really needed, made his foul shots. He is only going to get better as the season goes.

36 minutes, 21pts, 7assts, 5rebs, and one, only one turnover, on the 16 we had as a team. That is a great line.

The dude is a great leader as well. Cameras caught him on the line yelling "Ay Reed!" after a substitution by BYU to get Tarris' attention and make sure he knew who he was guarding post sub. Tarris is obviously known for his mental lapses, I like how he identified that and made sure there were no issues. It's those little intangibles that make a huge difference throughout the season.

Is that an established nickname or was Rothstein trying to get something started?

My two cents - it's a stupid nickname unless there's some history.
I honestly think he just felt between the nickname and his little tagline "and now he's ready to infect college basketball" he was being cute/clever and would generate more views, lol.

I agree it's stupid. Byproduct of click/view chasing I guess

This team as is currently constructed, I fear it’s missing the “fire” and “relentless” compared to 23’ team which is Cam Spencer. They don’t play 40 minutes consistently as witnessed in back2back games. Hopefully Demary, Mullins and Furphy will provide that.. yes Hurley and coaching staff should adress that going forward.

Exactly what we needed him to be for us. In games where we don't need him to score as much, he'll be the floor general. When he needs to turn it on and get to the basket, he can and he will. He's ahead of schedule of where Tristen was in his first year here. His defense was sensational too

This is an appreciation thread.

I was thinking the same thing they found their ice man in Silas. But they don’t have the fire. That guy that when it’s 10 wants to push it to 15 when it 15 he just as intense and wants to push it to 20+. You need that guy that even when you have a comfortable lead makes things uncomfortable

Refer to the post above.

This is why Hurley and company recruited him. It was his coming out party last night and I am excited for the rest of the season. He is tough, great court awareness, can shoot the long ball, steady and settles things down, not to mention a very good foul shooter. Stay healthy Silas, he's just going to get better.

Matt Norlander says he's the missing piece they didn't have last season. Which we've been saying all offseason.

Who stepped up and made up for Ball's foul-plagued evening? Demary. He looks like a Dan Hurley player. When BYU sniffed blood, Demary wouldn't let the pendulum swing all the way in the Cougars' favor.
