Gerry McNamara is putting together a great class at Siena. Ryan Moesch and Parrish Edmond are not at all your typical MAAC level freshmen recruits. I expect both of them to show out there and get a serious bag at a high major in the future. I expect more kids to do this now with the way things are currently set up.

The way things are set up it hurts mid-majors in retaining players but they're also getting kids they never would've gotten with the way things used to be.

Gerry Mac has to prove he can develop these guys and get them portal and NIL offers. It's a good strategy for him, and for the players, if he can.

He's already starting to prove that. Overall, the team last year had just 6.2% roster continuity. Siena had four 10+ ppg scorers last season which included one freshman, two non-D1 transfers and a guy who jumped from 3 ppg the previous year to 13 ppg his first year w/ Gerry Mac.

This is the true farm system.

It doesn't make sense for high major D1 teams to pay money for 3 or 4 star recruits to sit on the bench for two years.

Spend money on proven commodities (transfers) and high demand instant impact recruits.

Mid-majors and low majors (Like Siena or Suracuse) are a perfect landing spot to develop college freshmen and showcase them before they move on to a higher caliber ball.

This is the recruiting strategy more or less that Jim Mora is doing for UConn Football.
